Study Skills Program
Laughlin Children’s Center Study Skills Program is designed around the idea that good organizational and time-management skills allow students to study more efficiently and have better results. Working individually, the student learns to organize material, make an outline, take notes, study for exams, and master memory techniques. This course parallels the school year and offers the student the opportunity for immediate application of the skills taught each week.
Early Reading Screening Program
Laughlin Children’s Center offers early reading screenings for 5-7 year old children whose parents want to know if their child might experience difficulty in learning to read.
The Predictive Reading Assessment (PAR) is administered to assess your child’s Letter-Word Calling, Picture Naming Vocabulary, Phonemic Awareness, and Rapid Naming Fluency abilities. After the one-on-one screening is administered, you will meet with a specialist and receive results on your child’s performance and recommended next steps. Each screening appointment will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
Reservations are required and can be scheduled between 10:00-2:30 pm by calling the Laughlin Children’s Center at 412-741-4087.
