Speech-Language Pathologists will conduct brief screenings that assess speech sounds\, receptive and expressive language\, and hearing. \nThese screenings help identify children who may benefit from additional evaluation or support during the preschool and early childhood years. ADHD is so much more than inattention\, low motivation or impulsiveness which are actually symptoms of a broader challenge. This challenge is the inconsistent & delayed development of executive functions. In each session we will start with a 40 minute presentation (some via video) on the topics listed below\, then take questions from parents that can be answered in a manner relevant to the group as a whole. This group is meant to be not just informative but supportive of parents of challenging children. \nTopics covered include:\n\nThe Nature of ADHD: Underlying Deficits & Development Expectations\nDescription of Executive Functions Compromised\nThe Crucial Mindset of Parents in Supporting Their Child’s Development\nPractical Strategies for Children to Build the Executive Skills\n\nLenore Melmeyer\, Ph.D.\, moderates these sessions. Each session aims to provide information and support for parents with challenging children. The group size is limited to at most 8 in-person and any others attending via Zoom. \nEach session runs approximately 60-70 minutes with questions and answers appropriate to the subject.

ADHD is so much more than inattention\, low motivation or impulsiveness which are actually symptoms of a broader challenge. This challenge is the inconsistent & delayed development of executive functions. In each session we will start with a 40 minute presentation (some via video) on the topics listed below\, then take questions from parents that can be answered in a manner relevant to the group as a whole. This group is meant to be not just informative but supportive of parents of challenging children. \nTopics covered include:\n\nThe Nature of ADHD: Underlying Deficits & Development Expectations\nDescription of Executive Functions Compromised\nThe Crucial Mindset of Parents in Supporting Their Child’s Development\nPractical Strategies for Children to Build the Executive Skills\n\nLenore Melmeyer\, Ph.D.\, moderates these sessions. Each session aims to provide information and support for parents with challenging children. The group size is limited to at most 8 in-person and any others attending via Zoom. \nEach session runs approximately 60-70 minutes with questions and answers appropriate to the subject.
