Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults. The training is not therapy but is based on principles taught in Parten Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P’s – Praise, Paraphrase, Point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains a set of techniques for giving effective commands to children and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.
