The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of the Speech Department, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides high-quality, individualized evaluation and treatment services to children with a wide range of communication disorders and delays. Working within a supportive, collaborative, and family-centered environment, the SLP is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, monitoring client progress, maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation, and partnering with families and other professionals to support continuity of care. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong diagnostic and clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards. Experience working with pediatric communication disorders is strongly preferred.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, with approximately 50% of work time dedicated to client-facing services and the remaining time devoted to documentation, family and professional collaboration, scheduling and insurance requirements, meetings, supervision, and other departmental responsibilities. Because LCC strives to offer appointment times that are accessible to children and families, the position requires flexibility to provide services during high-demand after-school hours. The SLP should be available to see clients until 7:00 p.m. two days per week, until 5:00 p.m. two days per week, and until 4:00 p.m. on Fridays, with the overall weekly schedule structured to maintain a 40-hour workweek.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations, including administration and interpretation of standardized assessments, clinical observations, parent consultations, recommendations, and written reports.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based and developmentally appropriate therapeutic practices.
- Provide speech-language therapy services for children with a variety of communication disorders and delays.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including treatment plans, therapy notes, progress reports, re-evaluations, discharge summaries, and electronic medical records.
- Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and determine readiness for discharge.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents, caregivers, referring physicians, and other professionals to support continuity of care.
- Assist with insurance-related requirements, including diagnostic coding, authorizations, pre-determinations, and documentation requests.
- Manage client scheduling, billing charge slips, and documentation within the electronic medical record system (Advanced MD).
- Participate in annual chart audits to ensure compliance with documentation, HIPAA, authorization, and regulatory requirements.
- Attend clinical staff meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide clinical supervision for graduate student clinicians as needed in accordance with University of Pittsburgh Communication Sciences & Disorders program requirements.
- Maintain professional licensure, ASHA certification, and continuing education requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education, Credentials & Clearances:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
- Current Pennsylvania Speech-Language Pathology License.
- Current ASHA Certification.
- Pennsylvania Criminal History Check.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
- Federal Criminal History Check/FBI Fingerprinting.
- Trained in CPR & First Aid
