Rachael Troglio, M.Ed

Rachael began working at the Laughlin Children’s Center in the summer of 2019 as a dyslexia practitioner. Rachael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education, Master’s degree in Reading, an Elementary I -II credential from the American Montessori Society, and certification as an Orton-Gillingham (OG) practitioner as well as a teaching certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Rachael also has 15+ years of experience as an elementary and special education teacher. Currently as the Director of the Academic department, she oversees The Village Preschool and the Center’s tutoring program, administers academic evaluations, and provides individualized OG tutoring for elementary children with dyslexia as well as children who have demonstrated characteristics similar to dyslexia.


Susan Wright, M.A.

Susan joined Laughlin Children’s Center in January 2009 as a lead teacher in The Village Preschool. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, a Master of Arts degree in Psychology, certification as an Orton-Gillingham (OG) practitioner, and has many years of experience in the social service and non-profit educational sectors. Susan provides OG tutoring for children diagnosed with dyslexia as well as children who have demonstrated characteristics similar to dyslexia. She also works within the community to promote early intervention and specialized instruction for children with complex learning needs.


Sarah Simmons, B.A.

Sarah began working at Laughlin Children’s Center in 2019 as a part time dyslexia practitioner and joined as a full time staff member in the fall of 2023.  Sarah has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Arts Education degree. Dyslexia runs in her family and she is passionate about literacy and dyslexia advocacy. She is also mixed media sculptor.


Sandy Charko

Sandy has been a member of the academic department since 2007. She has her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Education degree with a focus in reading. She is a trained Orton Gillingham tutor here at Laughlin Children’s Center.


Barbara Harris

Barb has been tutoring at Laughlin Children’s Center since 2015. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary and special education and her dyslexia practitioner certificate. She was a special education teacher for 17 years before recently retiring.


Angela Villella Beker

Angela began working at Laughlin Children’s Center in 2021. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Arts in Education with a focus on her reading specialist certificate. She has also earned her certificate in structured literacy. Angela has 20+ years of experience in the field of education both as a classroom teacher and reading specialist.
