Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE)

Laughlin Children’s Center is pleased to offer this FUN and engaging workshop.

CARE training including an educational component and active practice for general use by adults who interact with children of all ages in a variety of settings.

Adults who are clinicians will benefit from the training, as well as those in roles such as receptionist, preschool teacher, daycare provider, medical provider, parent, or foster parent.

Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults. The training is not therapy but is based on principles taught in Parent Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P’s – Praise, Paraphrase, Point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains a set of techniques for giving effective commands to children and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.

Laughlin Children’s Center is now able to offer Act 48 hours for certified professional educators who attend a CARE Workshop. These hours have been approved and are processed through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. A $7.00 fee is required the day of the event. Please make checks payable to Laughlin Children’s Center. Educators must also bring their PPID (Professional Personnel Identification) number in order to have the hours added to their Act 48 records.
