Services for Grades 1-6

Empowering children with the tools they need to become confident, lifelong learners.

When a student begins at Laughlin Children’s Center, an academic assessment is completed by an academic diagnostician in coordination with a licensed psychologist. These clinicians determine the current level of development, as well as specific strengths and weaknesses. This information is used to address classroom performance and develop an instructional tutoring plan with specific goals. The student then begins weekly one-to-one instruction with the tutor who specializes in their areas of need.

Academic Tutoring:

  • Offers individualized one-to-one instruction in the areas of reading, written language, or math
  • Is delivered by a Pennsylvania Department of Education certified tutor either in person at the center or virtually

Screenings and evaluations are available at the Center by appointment.
